Honey Mustard Pretzel Crunch

The Big Game is Sunday and if you’re anything like me you’re having a party. A party means guests, guests usually mean hungry people and that means you want to make sure you have a lot of yummy treats available. Finger foods that are easy to pick up and gobble between touchdowns. Chips and salsa are fan favorites as are nachos and buffalo wings. But there’s something else that’s also popular at sports parties – a big bowl of nuts. They’re easy to grab, delicious to munch on and always a huge hit. And while you could easily throw together a yummy bowl of Chex Mix, it wouldn’t compare to the crack I’m about to share with you.

That’s right I said crack. This sweet and spicy take on the classic bowl of nuts is so addictive, you won’t be able to leave the buffet table. I’m not sure why it’s crack, but everyone who’s ever tasted this crunchy snack has dubbed it as such and begs for more. I think it’s the combination of honey and Melissa’s hatch chili powder that makes it so addictive. But don’t take my word for it, whip up a batch for Sunday’s game and see for yourself.

But if you’re worried that mixing up this crack will be long and involved, I’m here to put your mind at ease. Just like that other popular nut and pretzel mix, it’s super easy to make. You can mix it up today, put it in a resealable bag and have one less thing to worry about on game day. And if that isn’t a game winning play, I don’t know what is.

Honey Mustard Pretzel Crunch

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 (12 oz.) packages honey mustard and onion flavored pretzel pieces
  • 3 (6 oz.) cans smoked almonds
  • 2 tablespoons Hatch Chili Powder

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly coat 2 baking sheets with cooking spray.
  2. Combine the butter and honey in a small saucepan over low heat and stir until butter is melted and combined with the honey. Set aside.
  3. Combine the pretzels, almonds and chili powder in a large bowl. Add the honey mixture to the pretzel mixture and toss to coat.
  4. Spread the pretzel mixture in a single layer on the baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes. Let the mixture cool.
  5. Break up the nut clusters, transfer to a serving bowl and serve.
