Sea Breeze
If you’ve been watching my Instagram posts over the past few days, you know that I’ve been spending some much needed time in the sun with my family on a lovely tropical island. Since I’m lucky enough to be drinking cocktails on the beach, I thought I’d share one with you so you can have a similar tropical experience, even if you’re not sunning in the sand somewhere.
The Sea Breeze is a delightful cocktail that’s sweet, refreshing and potent while sharing the colors of a beautiful sunset over the ocean. Although the current concoction is made of vodka, cranberry and grapefruit juices, the original was something completely different. Back when the cocktail was originally created in the 50’s, it contained Seagram’s gin and tonic water, hence the Seagram’s SEA-breeze. Then sometime in the early 60’s the Sea Breeze became the drink we all know today. It’s unclear why the switch was made from gin and tonic to vodka and fruit juices, but made it was, and today this drink is enjoyed by many poolside tourists, including myself.
