My Story

HI, I'M JENN - THE KITCHY COOKER. I’ve been cooking since I could hold a wooden spoon and help my mom lick the bowl. I’ve always loved cooking, whether it was baking something sweet or simmering something savory. And you can absolutely be good at both. While I love the perfect fudgey brownie, there’s absolutely nothing better than a hot bowl of chili with shredded cheddar cheese on a cold, rainy night. About me

Quince Cranberry Crumble

November means turning the clocks back, red and orange leaves, cool breezes and the occasional rain storm. It also means turkey with all the trimmings, green beans and pumpkin pie. There’s just one problem… I don’t like pumpkin pie. I’m…

Cheerio Blueberry Parfait

Most mornings when I ask my boys what they want for breakfast they both respond “cereal with yogurt”. I know it sounds odd, but it’s what they want. And since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I…

Carrot Orzotto

It’s October and here in the South Bay that means cool breezes and chilly temperatures. I’ve even started wearing long pants and pulled out the occasional sweater. When that happens, it’s time to start rethinking dinner options; and some of…

Pan-Seared Pork Chops with Figs

We’re right in the middle of fig season and if there’s one thing I love it’s fresh figs.  I’ll eat them straight or roasted or even cooked down into a thick relish. I’ve even made a few desserts with them. But one thing I’ve never done is cooked them with a protein. Well, I changed that a few weeks ago and I’m so happy I did. These pork chops are delicious and perfect for this time of year.

Palmetto

I’m a big movie fan. I like the new releases, but I’m especially partial to the classics. With all the sequels and remakes coming out in this day and age, it can be hard to find a good film. Honestly,…
